These are various reflections of life, living, culture, and faith and how all these many and varied threads
mingle and coalesce to bring spiritual insights and newness along life's precarious journey.

Nature's Wisdom to a Pilgrim

An anxious pilgrim on an unfamiliar road winds his way to a spiritual world
What spiritual world am I seeking? I wonder as I walk the unfamiliar road
To where? I do not know. I walk. I listen. I wonder.

In the distance I hear the anxious waves crashing against the rocky shore
The anxious waves keep rolling along until each drop of water finds a place to rest
To where? I do not know. I walk. I listen. I wonder.

All around me I look and see the craggy, rocky shorelines with mystery and wisdom
The face of the hills seems lonely, cold and dark just waiting for a pilgrim to pass by
To where? I do not know. I walk. I listen. I wonder.

Across the bay a seal barks, calling, calling through the gathering darkness
There, there she is, her tiny head breaking through the rolling waves. Trust, trust my friend
Just "be" my friend, just be. Trust the water. It will hold you up.

A colony of puffins fly over the roaring sea, landing gently on the rocky cliffs
With their curious, droopy eyes and colorful beaks, they seem to say, rest, rest my friend
Just "be" my friend, just be. The cliffs will give you rest.

The cloak of darkness surrounds the wandering, wondering pilgrim. All is still.
Not far, but still not seen is the quiet cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo of a Cuckoo bird.
Just "be' my friend, just be. We'll be here watching over you tonight. Just be.

A mother lamb bleats frantically, listening for the familiar bleating of her lost lambs
There is rejoicing, the lost are found. The lambs know the mother's voice and they are safe
Just "be" my friend, just be. Take care of one another, know that I am with you. Just be.

The road I've been traveling is more familiar today.
The water on the bay is quiet, still, and inviting.
The craggy, rocky cliffs look different today as I take in nature's wisdom.
Just "be" my friend. Just be, be in the presence of your Creator.
It is good!
